Écrin project

This project had started for 2 weeks by me, due to a lack of a really simple gallery to show photographies without the all texts which are used to be shown around it.

A drawing is better than a long and boring text, so you can try it there.

I defined a shedule according to the languages I whish to learn, so the gallery is made of:

• english comming from butchery
• html strict, according to w3c recommendations
• bash scripts
• css stylesheet, according to w3c recommendations
• verry few php code
• xml configuration file

other rules are:

• the gallery should be viewed by any display above 640x480 px
• user can see photos and pictures without any text whatever the information||commands he can access
• users management is given to apache webserver
• no upload via http interface
• no javascript
• no tables

I want this stuff as compatible as it can be but usage of css and png limits the range of browser working with it at the moment :

• Mozilla (seamonkey 1.0) seems to works well
• Konqueror (3.5.1, libkhtml 4.2.0 ) seems to works well too, should work well with Safari
• Mozilla (1.7.10, firefox 1.0.7, versions 2005 july of gecko) have a problem in size of span
• Lynx and links are ok :)
• Opera ?
• I finish on another world's thing, I may make tests on newer version than the one which come with winxp, but, internet explorer seems to know (maybe) css1 which come in 1999 I believe... edit: we are 2006 march, and css3 is comming... :s Moreover, I have to learn on htc (thc?? no, I won't smoke...) files for png alpha channel. In short words, it's not done :(
At the moment, ie users, you're on a wrong way...
